The full moon is for letting it go
A new moon and a full moon are doing opposite jobs, and most people use them interchangeably, which is why neither one works for them.
New moon is new intentions. New starts, new beginnings. You are seeding something, planting it in the ground and waiting for it to grow.
Full moon is release. Whatever it was already came to fruition. It already bloomed. You already saw what you needed to see. Now it is about being finally done with it.
Everything goes outside 🚪
The old water. The burnt down candles. Whatever you have been holding onto.
Take it outside the house and throw it with your right hand. As you do, say it out loud:
For all my wishes to come true, I throw it out into the universe. I give it to the ground. I give it to the earth. I give it to the people. I give it to God.
Never down the drain 🚫
I want to be very firm about this one. Never flush anything down a toilet and never pour it down a drain.
Everything goes outside the house. All of it, every time.
Making full moon water 🌕
Take a mason jar and fill it with water. Hold the jar and say:
Dear God and all the angels, this jar is represented of the full moon water. May it catch all the hopes and dreams and wishes and wants of a full moon.
Leave it outside overnight under the moon.
What to do with it after 💧
You can drink it, and drink it with your intentions set rather than absent mindedly.
You can also write your wishes on small pieces of paper, put them underneath the jar, and let the moon water sit on top of them.
Saying it properly 🗣️
Out loud, and slowly enough to mean it. The words are not a formula to get through, they are the part that does the work.
If you want to add your own after, do. What matters is that you named where you are sending it and that you meant it.
What else can go out 🍃
Dead flowers. Soil from a plant that did not make it. The last of a simmer pot. Written wishes that have already been answered or are genuinely finished.
Not rubbish. This is for things that were holding something, not for the bin.
Why the right hand?
It is the giving and sending hand. Same hand that carries the cinnamon and throws the change through the door. Keeping it consistent is part of what makes these one practice.
What if it is raining?
Go out anyway. Rain is water going to the ground, which is exactly where you are sending it.
Can somebody do it with me?
Yes, and it is lovely with other people. Each person throws their own.
How long after the full moon can I do it?
The night of or the day either side. If you miss it, you have another one in a month.
What if I am not religious?
Say the parts you mean. The ground and the earth are there whatever you believe.

For the full evening, see what to do on a full moon. For why release is the theme at all, what the full moon means.
