Money Through the Door, Money on the Floor

Money through the door, money on the floor

Take a handful of change. Stand at your front door. Throw it into the house with your right hand, underhand, the way you would swing a softball.

Then leave it. Do not sweep it up.

Why throwing 🎯

Think about everything we throw. Money into a car for good luck. Rice at a wedding. Coins into a fountain.

Anything you throw out into the universe is coming back to you. That is the whole principle, and it is older than any of us.

So money through the door becomes money on the floor, and money on the floor is abundance that has already arrived.

Leave it where it lands 🪙

Let it sit for a few days. If it is genuinely in the way, move it aside or slide it under something. Do not tidy it away and do not put it back in your purse.

Same rule in the car. The change on the floor of your car stays on the floor of your car.

I tell my husband constantly. Do not pick it up. Put it under the rug if you have to, but the money on the floor stays on the floor.

This is why we notice pennies 👀

There is a reason people have always got feelings about money found on the ground. Coins turning up where you did not leave them is one of the oldest signs there is.

You are doing the same thing on purpose, in your own doorway, and making your house a place where that is normal.

How much change 🪙

A handful. Whatever is loose in the bottom of your bag or the dish by the door. It does not need to be much and it does not need to be neat.

Pennies are perfectly good. This is not about the value, it is about the throwing.

Why the right hand again ✋

The right hand is the giving hand, the sending hand. It is the same hand that carries the cinnamon at the door and the same one that throws the old water out on a full moon.

Keeping that consistent across every ritual is part of what makes them feel like one practice rather than a collection of tricks.

How long do I leave it?

A few days at least. There is no upper limit and plenty of people never pick it up at all.

What if I have small children or a dog?

Then be sensible. Move it against a skirting board or slide it under a rug or a piece of furniture the same day. It still counts, it just is not in the middle of the floor.

Can I eventually spend it?

I would not. Once it has been thrown in, it belongs to the house. If you must move it on, treat it the way you would an old bill being exchanged and spend it somewhere that brings you joy.

What about change on the floor of my car?

Same rule exactly. It stays. That is the version of this most people already do without knowing why.

Do I say anything while I throw it?

You do not have to. If you want to, I love my money, my money loves me fits perfectly.

Pair it with 🔗

Throw the change in on the first of the month, right after the cinnamon. Two doorway rituals, four seconds each, once a month.
