What should actually be in your wallet
Clean it out on the new moon, because the new moon is for new intentions and a wallet is where a lot of your intentions live whether you meant them to or not.
The ladder of bills 💵
If you can manage it, keep one of each in there at all times.
A hundred. A fifty. A twenty. A ten. A five. A two. A one.
The whole ladder. And change in the little zipper part, always. A wallet with no change in it is a wallet that has been emptied, and you do not want to be teaching yourself that.
The #28 bill ✍️
Write #28 with your initials on one of your bills and keep it in there permanently.
That one does not get spent. Not for a coffee, not in a pinch. It stays separate and its whole job is attracting more money to sit beside it.
A little cinnamon sack 🧡
Take a cinnamon stick, cut a piece off, and put it in a small sack with a little ground cinnamon. Keep the sack where your money is.
Cinnamon and abundance again. Same principle as the front door, carried around with you.
One thing to be careful with 🤍
A lot of people carry funeral cards and photographs of the people they have lost. I understand it completely.
I am not personally a big component of that, and I am not going to tell anybody what to do with their own grief. But if you do carry them, keep them in a separate compartment and not pressed up against your money.
Those two things are doing different work and they should not be sitting in the same pocket.
The order to do it in 🧹
Empty it completely onto a table. All of it, including the zipper section.
Bin the dead paper. Old receipts, expired cards, loyalty cards for places you no longer go, tickets from things that already happened. Then build it back deliberately rather than shovelling it in.
Why the full ladder 💵
A hundred, fifty, twenty, ten, five, two, one. Every denomination, if you can manage it.
A wallet holding one crumpled note teaches you something about scarcity every time you open it. A wallet holding the whole ladder teaches you something else, and you open your wallet a dozen times a day.
If you cannot do the whole ladder yet, do what you can and build it. The principle is in the bill.
Where do I get a two dollar bill?
Ask at your bank. They have them and most people never think to ask.
What if I never carry cash?
Then this is exactly for you. The ladder is not spending money, it lives in there.
Why change in the zipper?
Because a wallet with nothing in the coin section is a wallet that has been emptied, and you do not want to be teaching yourself that every time you look.
How often?
Once a month on the new moon. That is frequent enough to stay clean and rare enough that you actually do it.
What about the funeral cards?
Keep them if they matter to you, just not pressed against your money. Different work, different pocket.
Pair it with 🔗
Do it on new moon evening alongside cinnamon through the front door, and mark your kept note with #28 while everything is out on the table.
