So you developed an interior nobody could enter without permission. It protected you. It also means intimacy now requires you to override an instinct that once kept you alive.
How you self soothe, and the version that costs you 🌑
You self soothe through privacy, control, solitude and depth. Retreating to process alone is real processing for you and you should not be talked out of it.
The version that costs you is the vow. The quiet decision that someone has failed you, made internally, never communicated, and never revisited.
Watch for the test nobody knows they are taking.

Tell one person one thing you would normally keep. Something small and genuinely true.
You are not learning to be exposed. You are learning that you get to choose to open, rather than waiting to be discovered.
