Quantifying Your Money: Pick a Day and Look

Pick a day and actually look at it

Quantifying your money means deliberately looking at where it is going, who it is connected to, and what the exchange is creating.

Not a vague sense of it. Looking.

Choose the day carefully 📆

Pick a day this week when you can sit with your numbers without rushing, and when you feel steady enough to do it.

Not from fear, and not from lack. When you are panicked, every choice feels like the last one you will ever get. Cover your needs, get your feet back under you, and then come to the table.

No particular day guarantees a return. The point is that the decisions get made awake.

Take one exchange at a time 🔍

Write down one thing you are weighing right now. A loan to somebody. A client you are thinking of taking. A hire. An investment. Then answer four things honestly.

What is the amount, and what are the terms?

What has this person shown you through their actions, not their words?

What boundary or written agreement would protect you both?

And if you are deciding from fear, what would it take to wait until you are not?

Look at the leaks too 🕳️

Money leaks in practical ways as much as energetic ones. Missed deadlines. Unclear roles. Unpaid invoices. Poor communication. Resentment nobody has addressed.

Those are not separate from your spiritual life. They are where it shows up.

Three questions to finish on ✍️

Who helps me feel more capable and responsible with money, and why?

Where am I giving, lending, earning or paying out of fear or obligation?

What one boundary would make this exchange healthier for everyone involved?

What to have in front of you 📄

Your accounts. Anything owed to you and anything you owe. Standing payments you have not looked at in a while. And a pen, because the noticing needs to leave your head.

An hour is plenty. This is not accountancy, it is attention.

Actions over words 👣

When you are weighing an exchange, the question is what this person has shown you, not what they have told you.

Did they pay on time? Did they communicate when they could not? Did they honour the last agreement without being chased? That is the evidence. Everything else is a hope.

How often?

Monthly is plenty. Some people do it on the new moon so it has a natural slot.

What if looking makes me panic?

Then it is not the day. Cover your needs, get steady, come back. Decisions made in panic are the ones people regret.

Is the one to ten check about judging people?

No, and I am firm about that. It is a reflection tool about habits, not worth. Somebody having less money than you does not make them lower energy.

What if the honest answer is I should not lend this?

Then that is the answer, and a boundary is not a betrayal. Money tethering goes into this properly.

Does a particular day work better?

No day guarantees a return. Pick one you can be steady on.

Pair it with 🔗

If holding on to money is the harder part for you, read how to hold on to money and circulating money versus spending it.

This is the monthly version of the pause. Same four kinds of question, longer window, bigger decisions.
