Move Seven to Nine Things a Day

Move seven to nine things a day

Every day. Not once a week, not when you get round to it. Seven to nine things, every single day.

It sounds like nothing. It is one of the most effective things I teach.

What counts 🏠

A vase you have stopped liking where it is. Move it somewhere else.

A lamp that would light another room better. Take it in there.

A plant. An ornament. A chair. A corner that looks bare and needs filling, because a bare corner is a place where nothing is happening.

Small moves. You are not redecorating, you are stirring.

Why it works 🔁

Because it moves the energy in the home, and energy that moves does not go stagnant.

Moving seven to nine things a day guarantees movement of money and energy. Nothing stays still.

Money is the same as everything else in a house. It has to be able to move through.

You can feel it when a house has stopped 🕸️

You have walked into one. It feels like a museum. Everything is beautiful and nothing has been touched in years, and there is a stillness in it that is not peace.

That is what you are avoiding. You want a home that is clearly lived in and also clearly cared for. Tidy, but touched.

How to start tonight 🌙

Walk through one room. Move seven things. It will take you four minutes and you will notice the room straight away.

Then do it again tomorrow, somewhere else.

What does not count 🚫

Putting something back where it lives is not moving it. Neither is tidying.

The move has to be a decision. This goes somewhere else now, because it is better there. That is the difference between housework and this.

Corners matter more than you think 🕯️

Go and look at the corners of your rooms. Most houses have at least one that is just empty, and not in a deliberate, spacious way. Empty in a forgotten way.

Fill it. A plant, a lamp, a chair, a stack of books. A corner where nothing is happening is a place where nothing is happening.

Why seven to nine?

Enough that you have to actually think about it, few enough that you will still do it tomorrow. One or two is not a practice and twenty is a house move.

Does it have to be seven different rooms?

No. One room is fine. A drawer counts if you genuinely rearranged it.

What if my house is already tidy?

Tidy is not the same as moving. A show home is exactly the problem, everything perfect and nothing touched.

Can I move the same things back tomorrow?

You can, and people do. But if something keeps going back, that is worth noticing rather than fighting.

Does this have to be daily?

Yes. This is the one I am firm about. Daily is the whole mechanism, because stagnation is a thing that happens through time, not through neglect.

Pair it with 🔗

This is the household half of the same idea as circulating money. Things that move stay alive, whether they are objects or cash.

Put a simmer pot on while you do it, and do a round of it on the new moon when you are making room for something you have just planted.
