Stop Trying to Make It Fit: September 26–October 4, 2026

Hello, my peeps ✨

“Chemistry cannot do the work of character.”

I keep hearing that old song in my head, Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places. And I have been thinking about how many of us spend our lives trying to make something fit that simply does not fit. We twist ourselves around another person’s needs. We call potential a partnership. We keep looking, looking, looking, and wonder why love feels so far away.

Stop trying to make it fit 💛

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop trying to put a round peg in a square hole. Let things work themselves out. Let the truth show itself. Let somebody be who they are, and pay attention to what that tells you.

I believe love has a way of showing up when you least expect it. Often it comes in that space between no longer and not yet: no longer willing to abandon yourself, not yet sure what is coming next. That space can feel uncomfortable, but it is not empty. It is where you get reacquainted with yourself.

And I want to talk about shame, because shame has a way of following us into every relationship. Maybe you never finished college or high school. Maybe you start things and struggle to finish them. Maybe money feels messy, the house is not always clean, or you are still learning how to manage the responsibilities in your life. You may have made choices you wish you had made differently. None of that makes you unworthy of love. But if you secretly believe it does, you can begin accepting less than you deserve, or trying to fix somebody else so you do not have to sit with your own pain.

I am going to say this with love. You cannot build a healthy relationship by making another person your project. They have to want to grow for themselves. You have to want that for yourself, too. Fix what is yours to fix. Give yourself grace for what you are still learning. Make the small promises to yourself, and keep them. The point is not to become perfect so somebody will choose you. The point is to know who you are, how you want to live, and what kind of love can meet you there.

There are milestones in relationships. Before you call something commitment, notice whether you can tell the truth, handle a disagreement, respect each other’s boundaries and show up consistently. Attraction does not replace those things.

“Chemistry cannot do the work of character.”

I always told my daughters: do not end up with anybody who cannot do for you what I can do for you. If somebody cannot offer you the simple care, respect and dependability you already know, do not lower your standards just to say you have love in your life. You do not have to make somebody better in order to be worthy of being loved well.

The sky is asking us to look again 🔭

Saturn is already retrograde in Aries, asking us to revisit responsibility and the promises we make to ourselves. Uranus is retrograde in Gemini, inviting us to question old thinking. Neptune is retrograde in Aries, asking where a dream needs honesty. Pluto is retrograde in Aquarius through mid-October, stirring deeper questions about power, belonging and change. These are invitations to reflect, not predictions of what must happen to you.

Venus turns retrograde on October 3 in Scorpio, beginning a review of love, desire, trust, worth, and the ways we exchange energy and money. Venus will eventually move back into Libra before turning direct on November 13. Think back to 2018 if that helps you see what has changed in the way you love and value yourself. You do not have to go back to an old relationship to understand an old lesson.

Mercury enters its pre-retrograde shadow on October 4 and turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 24, through November 13. If an old conversation comes back around, you can listen without agreeing to repeat the pattern. Review your words. Ask the question you were afraid to ask. Give yourself room to respond instead of react.

“Where am I trying to force a fit, and what would it feel like to let the truth make room for love?”

That is your journal question for the week.

Come spend an hour with me on September 28 🕯️

On Monday, September 28, I am hosting Money Can Trust Me Again, a one-hour Zoom class for $28.28. We are going to talk about the money messages we grew up with, the shame we carry when money comes in or goes out, and how to build a kinder, steadier relationship with it. I will share my red wallet and $100 bill theories, plus a simple practice for learning to let money stay.

If the love conversation above touched a nerve, this class belongs in the same healing conversation: what we believe we deserve shows up in our choices.

What is coming 📣

I am putting together the 30-Day Money Trust Journal challenge and a private group where we can keep practicing together. I will share the start date and joining details once they are ready.

And mark your calendar: The Jae Rae Show comes back live on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. I cannot wait to be back with you, take your calls, and talk about what is unfolding in real life, not just on paper. Watch jaerae.com and my socials for the live time and link.

For this week, stop auditioning for love. Stop negotiating with what you already know. Take care of the life you have in front of you, and leave space for the right people to meet the real you.

With love,
Jae Rae ✨
