A 4 personal year is the least glamorous number in the cycle and one of the most valuable. What you build here holds up the second half.
A 4 year is not a punishment for enjoying your 3. It is the bill for it, and it is a fair one.
How to work out your personal year 🔢
Your personal year runs birthday to birthday, not January to January. Until your birthday lands you are still inside last year’s cycle, so someone born in November is still in their previous personal year all the way through to that November. Take your birth month, your birth day and the year your current cycle began, add every digit together, then reduce, holding 11, 22 and 33. Someone born on October 11 whose cycle began in 2026 adds 1+0 + 1+1 + 2+0+2+6, which is 13, and 1+3 is 4. Note that the month is its own number, so July is 7 rather than 07.
What this year is asking of you
Systems. The unexciting infrastructure you have been avoiding: the accounts, the contracts, the actual filing, the boring health thing.
It is also asking for consistency over intensity. A 4 year rewards the person who did a small correct thing every week for fifty two weeks.
What not to do this year
Do not quit because it feels hard. A 4 feels hard by design and quitting inside one usually means starting the cycle over from a worse position.
Do not gamble. A 4 year is the single worst year in the cycle for a leap of faith, and it will let you take one.
How to tell it is working
Nothing dramatic happens and things stop breaking. That is a successful 4.
You should also feel slightly bored, and slightly more secure than you did in January.

Where this sits in the nine year cycle 🔄
Personal years run in a cycle of nine. A 1 year plants, the middle years grow and complicate the thing, and a 9 year clears it out so the next 1 has somewhere to land.
This is why fighting your year rarely works. Trying to launch in a 9 or rest in a 1 is possible, it is just uphill the entire way. The number does not decide what happens to you. It tells you which way the current is going.
What does a personal year 4 mean?
A personal year is the cycle you are in right now, and it changes every year on your birthday. A 4 year is about structure, work and building something that lasts. What it asks of you is real, and the trap is rigidity, and mistaking the system for the point.
How do I calculate my personal year?
Add your birth day and birth month to the current year, then reduce. So born 14 March, in 2026: 1+4+3+2+0+2+6 = 18, then 1+8 = 9. You are in a 9 year.
When does my personal year change?
On your birthday, not on 1 January. That is the single most common mistake in numerology and it throws the whole reading out by months.
What should I actually do in a 4 year?
Work with it rather than against it. A 4 year rewards structure, work and building something that lasts and punishes forcing the opposite. Fighting your own year is the most tiring thing you can do with twelve months.
Is a 4 year a good year?
Every year in the cycle is useful and none of them is comfortable the whole way through. A 4 year is only a bad year if you spend it trying to live somebody else's.
